Thioenol ethers are compounds containing the enol ether functional group, with the formula R3SCR2=CR1. 1-Propenyl propyl sulfide has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as onion-family vegetables, red onion, green onion, garden onion (var.), and garden onions (Allium cepa). This could make 1-propenyl propyl sulfide a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 1-Propenyl propyl sulfide.
