These are carbohydrate derivatives containing a pentose substituted by one or more phosphate groups. A D-fructofuranose 6-phosphate with a beta-configuration at the anomeric position. Beta-D-Fructose 6-phosphate is an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Beta-D-Fructose 6-phosphate exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans.
