Chemical Information
FooDB Name4-Hydroxybenzoyl-CoA
Description4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA belongs to the class of organic compounds known as alpha-hydrogen aldehydes. These are aldehydes with the general formula HC(H)(R)C(=O)H, where R is an organyl group. 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as greenthread teas (Thelesperma), spearmints (Mentha spicata), safflowers (Carthamus tinctorius), watercresses (Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum), and american cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon). This could make 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 4-hydroxybenzoyl-CoA.
