Chemical Information
FooDB Nametrans-Caryophyllene oxide
DescriptionCaryophyllene beta-oxide is a member of the class of compounds known as sesquiterpenoids. Sesquiterpenoids are terpenes with three consecutive isoprene units. Caryophyllene beta-oxide is practically insoluble (in water) and an extremely weak basic (essentially neutral) compound (based on its pKa). Within the cell, caryophyllene beta-oxide is primarily located in the membrane (predicted from logP). It can also be found in the extracellular space.
