DescriptionL-Allothreonine belongs to the class of organic compounds known as l-alpha-amino acids. These are alpha amino acids which have the L-configuration of the alpha-carbon atom. L-Allothreonine exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to plants to humans. L-Allothreonine has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as silver lindens (Tilia argentea), pitayas (Hylocereus undatus), grass peas (Lathyrus sativus), lovages (Levisticum officinale), and oregon yampahs (Perideridia oregana). This could make L-allothreonine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review a significant number of articles have been published on L-Allothreonine.
