Chemical Information
FooDB Name3-oxo-docosapentaenoyl-CoA
Description3-oxo-docosapentaenoyl-coa is a member of the class of compounds known as very-long-chain 3-oxoacyl coas. Very-long-chain 3-oxoacyl coas are organic compounds containing a coenzyme A derivative, which is 3-oxo acylated long aliphatic chain of 22 carbon atoms or more. 3-oxo-docosapentaenoyl-coa is practically insoluble (in water) and an extremely strong acidic compound (based on its pKa). 3-oxo-docosapentaenoyl-coa can be found in a number of food items such as ginger, loquat, pepper (c. frutescens), and oval-leaf huckleberry, which makes 3-oxo-docosapentaenoyl-coa a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
